Frequently asked questions

At The Reserve, students progress through grades while engaging in long-cycle projects, interdisciplinary exploration, and interest-driven learning alongside traditional coursework. Progress is measured through narrative assessments, student-led conferences, and demonstrated mastery. Students develop self-direction, executive function, and authentic intellectual engagement that translate powerfully to college and career.

Yes. Students at The Reserve perform strongly on standardized tests and college applications because they develop the self-management and critical thinking skills that carry them through rigorous academic environments. We support targeted preparation for the ACT, SAT, and AP-equivalent coursework, and eligible high school students can earn real college credit through Ohio's College Credit Plus program. Our administrators are experienced in guiding students through every step of the process.

Students begin with a morning meeting for community gathering and connection, then move through a blocked schedule that allows flexibility and natural linking of subjects through project-based teaching. Lunch is eaten together in the classroom, and the day closes with a restoration and planning period where students reflect and set intentions for the following day.

Transition students are welcomed with intentional onboarding support, and the adjustment to self-direction is normal and expected. Guides work closely with each student to build the internal scaffolding needed to thrive, and most find their footing within the first semester. We encourage families to shadow the program before enrolling so everyone arrives with a clear picture of what to expect.

The program is built around community, belonging, and contribution, with guides building close relationships with every student. Our intentionally small community ensures every student is known, seen, and supported. Older students serve as ambassadors for younger peers, and community agreements are developed collaboratively by the students themselves.

As a recipient of the Ohio Code Scholar Grant, The Reserve has access to a 3D printer for hands-on design and engineering work. Career exploration is embedded through real-world projects and community partnerships, including STEM-grounded coursework in forensics and criminology that connects science, data analysis, and critical thinking to real-world career pathways. AI responsibility is taught intentionally, with students learning to think critically about ethics, bias, and accuracy alongside practical AI skills.

The Reserve offers extracurricular programming that reflects the interests and passions of our students. Gaming and E-Sports give students a competitive, team-oriented outlet that also builds strategy, communication, and digital fluency. Our Journalism program develops real-world writing, research, and media skills through student-driven storytelling. These opportunities extend learning beyond the classroom and help students discover identity, voice, and community in meaningful ways.

Testimonials

Amazing school I made so many new friends teachers are very flexible with deadlines and other things 10/10 will be attending next year!

After two years of watching our son make zero progress in public school, we enrolled him at CWM. That decision changed everything. When he moved to The Reserve, he hit the ground running. He did not just catch up. He thrived, graduating at the top of his class, earning strong test scores, and being admitted to college with scholarships. The individualized approach met him exactly where he was and built from there. Both of our boys have grown into young people we are incredibly proud of. The empathy, the environmental awareness, the thoughtful and responsible approach to technology, those are not things we had to teach at home. The schools modeled and reinforced them every single day. Knowing that, enrolling our younger son was not even a question. This is not just a school we chose. It is a school we believe in.
